Serving God in Your Body

Sadness, an emotional state will cause you to feel depressed. The emotional state of sadness is a vicious cycle of perception and hormones. We perceive a situation as hopeless. That perception, cause a chemical reaction in our brain releasing the hormones that leads to a physiological reaction. Physical expression of sadness may present in various ways, such as, insomnia, and unhealthy relationship with food. The enemy of our souls is very aware of this, that he uses psychological warfare to alter our perception, thereby making it easy for us to disobey God. IN Genesis 3:1 the devil in serpent form, was able to alter Eve's perception, causing her to disobey God's instruction not to eat from the tree of knowledge. The devil unable to destroy our Spirit once surrendered to the Lord, seeks to attack our thought process, which has an effect on our body. The subtle attack on believer to overlook obesity/underweight and insomnia as spiritual warfare is a blitzkrieg act by the devil. Our bodies are the temple of God (1corinthian 6:19-20nkjv). We are instruments for the purpose of God. (Ephesians 2:10, Psalm 63:4 nkjv). It is God will that you live and not die, to testify of the Glory of the Lord. (Psalm 118:17 nkjv). To neglect your body and health is to go against God's will. When we disobey God, not getting sufficient rest and consuming enough to sustain a healthy lifestyle you unwillingly give the enemy a footage in that area of your life. Giving him legal rights to attack your health. (Ephesians 4:27-29 nkjv). If the devil can't stop the praise in your spirit, he will try to stop the praise manifesting in your body. We praise the Lord by lifting our hands, stomping our feet, doing our dance, singing, and more. Without strength in your body, those acts of praise become very tiring and difficult to sustain. (Isaiah 38:18-19).

There is yet hope. Let us counteract this attack by changing our perception of our situations and/or world. Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to change your behavior by changing your thinking. This is also a strategy God gave us, to change our behavior by changing our thoughts. (Romans 12:2, Proverb 23:7). WE put on our helmet of salvation (Eph. 6:17). Placing our hope in God. As we meditate of the sovereignty of God, challenges we face, are within His control. This knowledge gives us hope. (John 16:32-33 nkjv). Hope is an enemy to depression. Depression is branched from sadness. Sadness is rooted in unmet expectation of situation or the world. Unmet expectation (disappointment/despair) is seeded in negative perception.

How to change your perception:

  1. Acknowledge the thought, is a negative one. Do not normalize negative thinking. (2corinthian 10:4-5)

  2. Address unmet expectation by surrendering the situation to the will of God. Do not allow it to consume you. (Philippian 4:6-7) You are not in control of the outcome. (Matthew 6 :27).

  3. Trust Gods will for you is best. (Luke 22:42, Luke 11:2). This act of trust will bring you peace.

  4. Peace will bring you the joy of the Lord (Nehemiah 8:10 nkjv). This joy will enable you to seek comfort from the Holy Spirit of God and not food. The Holy Spirit of GOD is a comforter.

  5. Rest in the Lord. Get some sleep. (psalm 4:8njkv)

Do not allow the devil to use the care of this world or your situation to rob you of health and rest. (1King 19:6-7 nkjv). The next time you notice you are seeking comfort in food and having difficulty sleeping; ask yourself, what unmet expectation is manifesting itself through these habits. Put your trust in God, think positive and Live!! Live!! Live!!
